Reading Chair

As you may or may not know, I have been in the market for a good, solid, comfy reading chair under $500 to put in the new “reading nook.” It’s actually pretty hard to find a stylish chair under $500 that doesn’t look like it will fall apart in a couple years.

Running…

Running is something that I have attempted to learn and persevere through a couple times in my life. I once even took a running class. Yes, a class through the local adult school. Anywhoo, I’m back in the trying to run 5k and it would be rad if I could get that done by then end of the year.

Today I got the running shoes with the Nike + and the Nike + wristband. Now I’m set to attempt, yet again, to run. This time using the Couch to 5k running plan.

Do you run? When / how did you get started? Any advise to give the newbie?

Summer Vacation Part II: Netherlands

Despite the fact that July is Amsterdam’s wettest month (it poured rain the first 2 days!), it was absolutely gorgeous and completely different from anything I’ve seen ever.

The first three nights we stayed at Lucky Lake Hostel. It is a couple metro stops from Amsterdam Central station but was totally worth it. There are two options: cabins or caravans. You get your own little cabin with a full size bed, access to the outdoor kitchen (making it budget friendly as you can cook!) and free wi-fi.

From here we ventured to Den Haag, where we wandered around until we found the MC Escher museum which is housed inside of a palace! Totally rad and worth it. After grabbing a beer, we also saw Take That with Robbie Williams at the Amsterdam Stadium. It was truly a crazy show with multiple costume changes, a giant robot that went from sitting to standing, and thousands of screaming Dutch.

Summer Vacation Part I: London

I flew red-eye from SF to London and got into Heathrow at about 2pm, exhausted as I only slept like 3 hours total on the plane and my body thought it was the middle of the night. What I would give to fly business or first class…

Given that I only had the afternoon in London before sleeping and catching the train to Amsterdam at 6am, I chose to force myself to stay awake until I couldn’t possibly stand it anymore and then sleep as much as possible.
